Anumodana! It has been a busy few weeks, and the month of May just passed by quickly. May is very special for Buddhists around the world. Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightening, and parinirvana happened in May, the month of Vesak. (Vesak, also known as Buddha Jayanti, Buddha Purnima, and Buddha Day, is a holiday observed by Buddhists and some Hindus. It commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Siddhartha Gautama, who is commonly known as Buddha. All these important events are said to have happened on the same day throughout his life.)
We were very lucky to be in Lumbini, Nepal, known as Buddha’s birthplace, for Vesak Day. We were able to arrange many activities, including offering ceiling fans to schools for the hot summer months and also a few tube wells for villagers.
I wanted to build as many as 100 tube wells for these villagers to provide pure clean drinking water since they lack clean water, and in turn, it would prevent all the health issues children and adults are currently facing, specifically kidny problems.
